Ages 6-7: Mastering Mental Math

Watch as your child outpaces the standard school curriculum. In this group, we move beyond the basics into complex multiplication and division. Children begin to internalize the abacus, performing rapid mental calculations with incredible speed and accuracy.

Gaining the Competitive Edge

While most school curricula at ages 6 and 7 are still reinforcing basic counting, Abacus Map students are already diving into advanced arithmetic. This is the “Golden Age” for developing a mental image of the abacus.

What They Learn:

  • Advanced Arithmetic: Introduction to multiplication and division using abacus logic.
  • Mental Theory (Anzan): Children learn to “visualize” the abacus in their minds, moving the beads mentally to solve problems without the physical tool.
  • Multi-Tasking: Developing the ability to listen to numbers and calculate simultaneously, boosting auditory memory.

The Curriculum Advantage: Because our students tackle multiplication and division early, they enter the classroom with a massive head start. This leads to higher self-esteem, better concentration in all subjects, and a “math-brain” that processes information faster than their peers.
